Now that you have a new tattoo you will need to take good care of it to ensure that it heals nicely and to avoid any complications, please read the following instructions carefully and follow our guidelines to ensure that your tattoo heals perfectly.
Your artist would have wrapped your tattoo before you left the studio today and this is for one very important reason, to protect your new tattoo coming in contact with any airborne bacteria.
An hour or two after you get your new tattoo remove the plastic wrap from your tattooed area, using CLEAN hands gently wash your tattoo under warm water with soap using small circular motions making sure you cover all the tattoo and the surrounding skin, we recommend our tattoo cleansing wash as some soaps can irritate the skin or dry the tattoo out, please keep this in mind if you are using your own products. Carefully make sure you are washing away any ointment, dry blood/plasma until the area is clean. Gently pat dry.
Once your tattoo has been cleaned, using clean hands you can now apply a THIN layer of Phresh Ink’s premium organic aftercare in small gentle circular motions which will stimulate the skin’s blood flow and encourage the healing process. If you are using your own products, please be aware that this may affect the healing of your tattoo. If you purchased a roll on stick aftercare ($5 or $15) Please make sure you use clean fingers to apply the cream and DO NOT roll it directly onto the skin. To avoid cross contamination please make sure your hands and tattoo is clean at all times before rubbing anything into your skin as your tattoo is like an open wound and pushing bacteria into it will cause an INFECTION.
Depending on the location, size and your own skin there is a possibility that your fresh tattoo may seep clear fluid for 12-24 hours which is completely normal. You want to make sure you regularly change your sheets to avoid staining your sheets and stop the formation of bacteria.
Your tattoo with take approximately take 2WEEKS TO HEAL. During this time, you will need to make sure you are always keeping your tattoo clean and giving it a nice wash and applying the aftercare cream 1-2 times per day. You do not want your tattoo to get too moist or too dry therefore you will need to apply as you feel necessary. Your skin may feel tight, dry and itchy which may cause you discomfort, this when you can use the cream.
Your tattoo will begin to scab and peal during the healing process which is completely normal. DO NOT pick any of the scabs off at any time during the healing phase this can cause pigmentation loss and in some cases can cause permanent scarring.
Tattoos are not pain free, and some parts of the body are slightly more uncomfortable then others. You will slight a scratching and sunburn feeling during and immediately after your tattoo.
DO NOT wax or shave the area for at least 4 weeks after your new tattoo has healed
Avoid saunas, spas, hot tubs, hot baths, pools, salt water or any sort of submerging/ soaking your new tattoo into water until its fully healed (min 4 weeks)
DO NOT expose the area to direct sunlight or lay out in the sun while your tattoo is healing. If you are outdoors, please make sure you wear 30+ sunscreen on the area if you are outdoors and make sure you wash the sunscreen off when you arrive home
